I wanted to create a publication that explores emotion, memory, and personal growth. The project became a way to reflect on inner experiences — on how feelings can shift, linger, and transform over time.
Rather than telling a literal story, I chose an abstract and poetic approach. It’s not about explaining what happened, but about expressing what it felt like. Through visual and typographic choices, I tried to capture moments of fragility, resilience, and introspection. The title “What Got Me Through It” refers to the things — both big and small — that help us move through challenging periods and find a sense of peace again.
The publication combines imagery and song lyrics that evoke emotion, comfort, and reflection. The songs act as emotional anchors, connecting different phases of feeling and growth. I wanted the design to reflect a sense of vulnerability and softness, which I expressed through the use of small serif type, an intimate A5 format, and translucent pages of tracing paper that layer and blur the content — much like memories themselves.
In essence, “What Got Me Through It” is both a personal reflection and a visual meditation on healing, using design as a language to express what words sometimes cannot.
